Desert lion Love & Arya

Lion females Love and Arya

Love is our love. This small lioness got her name so that she would spread love amongst you, the animal lovers. Arya – her sister has also won over our hearts.
They were born in the Malkia park to the lion couple Kama and Cezar. Their sister Rose unfortunately didn't live long because of an inborn heart issue that caused her death. When it comes to inbreeding for many generations amongst the family members there are many genetic diseases passed on from generation to generation. The solution is spaying or controlled breeding of these individuals. Unfortunately, they don't deal with this issue in the circuses since spaying and castration could interfere with the behaviour of the animals which they can't risk because of the dressage.

African lions feed on large ungulates that are commonly found in their territory (gazelles, zebras, antelopes and wildebeests). The individual clamps have their own prey preferences. Some clamps tend to target larger prey, such as the African buffalo or giraffe.
Lions that are unable to catch large prey eat birds, rodents, fish, ostrich eggs, amphibians and reptiles.

In the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, the diet of local lions consists of seven main species: zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, buffaloes, warthogs and antelopes, which make up 90% of their diet.

Hunting efficiency is increased through group hunting. According to research in the Serengeti, lions as individuals have a 17% hunting success rate, while in groups it is 30%.

For the ADOPTION DONATION for Love and Arya we would like to thank: Scarlett and Patrik Mareš.
