Patagonian Mara

A few years ago, the Patagonian Mara populated the Argentinian semideserts in large numbers. Even though their numbers in the wild are continually decreasing, mara isn't considered vulnerable, nor endangered.

They live in permanent couples, where the male always accompanies the female for protection and also in order to keep away the competition.
