Bengal tiger Shakira, Sheena - R.I.P.

Shakira and Sheena almost ended up in the circus

Our beloved tigresses - superstars Shakira and Sheena we born in private captivity in Czech Republic, where they were purposefully taken from their mother for financial gain. Their siblings unfortunately ended up in a circus but we managed to at least save these sisters. They were two-months old when they got into our care and we had to work very hard to get them into a good shape. They were malnourished and therefore their fur was falling out. Did you know that the stripes that tigers have on their fur are identically imprinted on their skin.

On March 23, 2022, our tiger Shakira left us unexpectedly, in April 2022 she would have lived to be 6 years old.
Her sister Sheena left us for kidney failure last year.
Shakira showed no hints of pain, nausea, strange behavior...
She was still running around the enclosure and after lunch our caregiver found her dead in the inner bedrooms.
Since we don't know what happened to her yet, we sent her for an autopsy to find out more!
Our charges have been rescued from various places, and even though we know their genetics are not the most appropriate, we are always saddened by the various hidden birth defects/ diseases in them.
Both tigers were very young and full of vigor, our ufffkáčky, you will guard our park from above.
Shakira and Sheena - RIP.
Rest in peace.

Sheena left us in early July 2021 within three days of showing a lack of interest in the nurse, who inspects all the animals every morning, and when she notices something unusual, the animal immediately separates, observes and is called a veterinarian…
Sheena remained apathetic for two days and was diagnosed with total kidney failure after anesthesia.
She was still a young 5-year-old tiger and that's why we had more detailed blood and genetic tests… unfortunately, cats are the most sensitive to the kidneys…
Sheena is already in the animal world and will remain in our memory and hearts forever .
Thank you for your support as well as her adoptive parent who knows them since they came to us.
When animals grow to your heart, it's hard to say goodbye to them.
She will certainly miss Sister Shakire, although tigers are naturally solitary animals.

In the wild there are about 2500 individuals. Which actually makes the Bengal tiger the most populated tiger subspecies, which is an alarming current state. There used to be 9 subspecies of tigers: Bengal, Siberian, Indochinese, Malayan, South China, Sumatran, Caspian, Javan and Bali tiger. The last three have gone completely extinct, one lives in the wild and the rest are endangered species.

Bengal tiger is the national animal of India and Bangladesh. Bengal tigers belong, along with the Siberian tigers among the most abused tiger subspecies in circuses. Tigers have 30 teeth, their teeth aren't able to chew meat completely and so they swallow big chunks of meat. Tigers have two generations of teeth, just like humans. In their primary teeth they are missing molars and the overall number is 26. Within the first year they start falling out (starting from the 7th month) and their primary teeth are replaced by permanent ones.

She will definitely miss Sister Shakire, although tigers are naturally solitary animals.

For the ADOPTION DONATION for Shakira and Sheena we would like to thank: Phil White.
