Laughing kookaburra Smajlo

Australian kookaburra in Slovakia

The population of kookaburras in Australia is quite large, without signs of endangerment. It's somewhat worse in New Zealand. It's estimated that there are only about 500 individuals living there.

Even though they belong into the alcedinidae family, they don't eat fish. They use their big beacon for hunting mice, snakes, lizards and small birds.
