Indian/Bengal jungle tiger

Panthera tigris tigris

Mautzi

There was no place for her in Austria, she found her home here

Together with Falco, Mautzi was born in a private zoo in Austria to white parents. Unfortunately, they didn’t have a place for them, so they needed to be placed elsewhere. As a couple of month-old cubs, they also did not avoid contact with visitors/sponsors. Fortunately, they were blessed with parental love and were with their mother until they arrived at Malkia Park. With us, of course, they don’t even come into direct contact with the nurses.
Mautzi and Falco came to us as approx. 7-month-old wild / non-contact puppies. The white tigress Carmen finally had friends to play with and hang out with.
On Saturday, August 24, 2019, Falco went to the water in a fit (which cannot be confirmed if it was epileptic), which became fatal for him. For now, the cause of his death is accidental drowning. However, another very serious congenital heart defect was discovered during the autopsy. ,
Mautzi shares his paddock with Carmen.

The red-gold coloring of the tiger’s coat with the typical black striping gives one the feeling that it is distinctive and impossible to miss. However, this coloring perfectly camouflages and protects it in its natural environment of shady forests and primeval forests. The tiger has a muscular body with strong front limbs. The tail reaches up to half the length of its body. Its coat color varies between shades of orange with a white belly, supraorbital arches and cheeks, and prominent vertical black stripes. Stripes are unique to each individual. The tiger’s fur pattern is still visible even when the animal is shaved.
