Steppe serval

Leptailurus serval

Servaly

Šejk, Azrael a Sandra

More and more people are keeping the Serval in their homes, as it is a small cat-like animal and can easily get used to people. They are often bred by Arab sheikhs and they even cross them with domestic cats. Thanks to this crossing, the Savannah cat breed was created. Despite being “tamed”, this cat-like beast retains the character traits of a wild hunter and is still dangerous. It does not have the characteristics of a classic domestic cat.

A serval is a tall and slender animal that resembles a dog with the head of a cat. It has large, rounded ears and fur almost the same color as a slender cheetah. Its long legs, relatively the longest of all felines, allow it to move easily in the tall grass of the savannah. The coloring is cream or yellowish with black spots, but there is also a black melanic form. Black-colored individuals are found mainly in the mountainous regions of Kenya and Ethiopia.
